PURPOSE - To articulate the beliefs, style, strategy, and structure of Blue Ridge Church and then help you discover if this is the church God is calling you to partner with.

… You are members of God’s very own family … and you belong in God’s household with every other Christian.    Ephesians 2:19

The church is a FAMILY.

As a church family, we must be committed to share the following:

Our BELIEFS - God and what He did for us.

Our PURPOSES - Why we exist as a church.

Our STRATEGY - How we work on our purposes.

OUR BELIEFS :

The Bible

We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God. It is God’s Word to all men. Human authors were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We believe the Bible is without error, and our source of truth.

2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21, Proverbs 30:5

God

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.

Genesis 1:1, Genesis 1:26-27, Psalm 90:2

Man

We believe that all people were created in the image of God to have a relationship with Him. Man became alienated in that relationship through disobedience towards God which we call sin. As a result, we cannot gain a right relationship with God through our own efforts. We need Jesus.

Genesis 1:27, Romans 3:23, Isaiah 59:2

Jesus

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for our sins by dying on a cross. He rose from the dead to show His power over sin and death.

Matthew 1:23, John 1:1-5, John 14:6, John 14:10, Titus 2:13

Salvation

Salvation means to be delivered from the power of sin. Jesus died a substitutionary death on the cross as payment for our sins. Only the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin.  God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin!

Romans 6:23, Galatians 3:26

The Christian life

We believe all Christians (Christ-followers) should live for Christ and not for themselves. We do this by obeying God’s Word and daily yielding to His Spirit. Every believer should mature, grow, and be conformed to the image of Christ.

Mark 12:30, John 14:15

The Church

We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted, by faith, the work of Christ on the cross. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and by making Him known to the lost world.

Matthew 28:19, 1 Corinthians 12:27, 2 Corinthians 5:20

HOW WE APPROACH BELIEFS…

1. In essential beliefs, we have UNITY.

There is one body and one Spirit… one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father…of all…     Ephesians 4:4-6

2. In non-essential beliefs, we have LIBERTY.

1 Accept other believers who are weak in faith, and don’t argue with them about what they think is right or wrong....4 Who are you to condemn someone else’s servants? They are responsible to the Lord, so let him judge whether they are right or wrong.…. 12 Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God.…. 22 You may believe there’s nothing wrong with what you are doing, but keep it between yourself and God….    Romans 14:1,4,12,22

3. In all beliefs, we show LOVE.

If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:2

THE PURPOSE OF THE CHURCH

The Great Commandment:

Jesus replied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, (WORSHIP). This is the first and the greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself (SERVE). All the laws and the Prophets hang on these two commands.”   Matthew 22:36-40

The Great Commission:

Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations (SHARE), baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (CONNECT), and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you (GROW)...     Matthew 28:19-20

A BALANCED church is a HEALTHY church.

A HEALTHY church is a GROWING church.

WHY BLUE RIDGE CHURCH?

The specific focus of BRC

Acts 15

BRC exists to make the message of Jesus EASY and ACCESSIBLE.

How we do it…

1) MODERN Methods

2) MANNERS

3) GENEROSITY

4) TRANSPARENCY and AUTHENTICITY

5) Huge emphasis on KIDS & STUDENTS

6) Recognize GROWTH is a PROCESS

7) PRACTICAL

8) We are FOCUSED

Every day they (the followers of Jesus) continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts…   Acts 2:46

9) CONSISTENCY

FINANCES AND STRUCTURE OF BLUE RIDGE CHURCH

BRC is fully supported by it's ATTENDERS.

Since you excel in so many ways—in your faith, your gifted speakers, your knowledge, your enthusiasm, and your love from us—I want you to excel also in this gracious act of giving.  2 Corinthians 8:7

PRIORITY Giving

Honor God with everything you own; give him the first and the best.  Proverbs 3:9

PERCENTAGE Giving

You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”  And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.

PROGRESSIVE Giving

Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop.   2 Corinthians 9:6

STRUCTURE

We have Outside Advisors and a Ministry Leadership Team.

Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.   Hebrews 13:17

WHAT DOES PARTNERING WITH BRC LOOK LIKE?

1) PARTICIPATE in Sunday Services and Groups.

All non-weekend related ministries take place through Groups (i.e.: missions, special parent classes, pre-marital coaching, etc.)

2) INVITE others to Blue Ridge Church.

3) SERVE on a volunteer team.

"We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us..."    Romans 12:6-8

It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.     Ephesians 4:11-13

4) GIVE generously.

Ways To Give @ Blue Ridge:
