Our Ministry Style
Real
Leaders and members will grow in being transparent and confessional about where they are and where they are not in their Christian walk. Pre-Christians think they have to be perfect to go to church or to come to Christ. They don’t get that all we are is forgiven. They don’t know that we’re saved only by God’s grace through Jesus and that a Christian isn’t someone who never falls but someone who, when he falls, he gets up and goes again.
Relational
Blue Ridge Community Church is a place where lasting, meaningful friendships can be developed. In our approach to our culture and toward one another we will reflect God’s grace and love.
- Compassion and Acceptance
God has accepted us—fallen, self-centered, sin-polluted creatures. Out of His merciful grace, He has come to our rescue through the cross. We must reflect his compassionate acceptance of people about us. Without judgment, we embrace them with God’s love, re-presenting Christ’s unconditional love.
Relaxed
We are intentional about not being “religious.” Casual dress is welcomed. God can be worshiped and revered in blue jeans. (Casual dress does not equal being casual with God.) It may even help people be less inhibited and freer to worship in liberty. We’ll make available a time of coffee and conversation each Sunday mornings.
Relevant
As we communicate God’s Word and love to our culture we will remain doctrinally pure yet culturally relevant. While the message never changes, we will use different methods to present Christ to our communities. Music styles will be adapted to communities in order to get the best reception for the message of Christ and His cross. Practical messages with life application of the Scriptures to every day needs will be presented. We will seek to present Christ as the ultimate life fulfillment.
